A fantastic looking teaser trailer of the highly anticipated Blood & Chrome Battlestar Galactica prequel made the rounds on the web yesterday only to be quickly pulled by Syfy. According to EW, the trailer was not officially sanctioned (it’s still out there if you know where to look, but for your convenience we’ve embedded two examples after the break. Just don’t expect them to last long).
This is annoying for sure, but not nearly as upsetting as the news that the show will be web-based.
And in a statement from Syfy President of Original Content Mark Stern, the network indicates that even though the pilot movie will air on the network “at a future date,” the plan is still to go web-based: “Though the vision for Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome has evolved over the course of the past year, our enthusiasm for this ambitious project has not waned. We are actively pursuing it as was originally intended: a groundbreaking digital series that will launch to audiences beyond the scope of a television screen.”
So, no Syfy television series—at least not anytime soon. Without that, it’s hard to imagine that Blood & Chrome will properly resonate with BSG fans.
