Bulletproof Books to Protect Students

A candidate for Oklahoma State School Superintendent says that he has a solution to the problem of school violence. Metal detectors? Violence prevention education? Nope. The ingenious solution is to add a kevlar cover to the book.

See, the problem is that a normal textbook will only stop a bullet from a pistol, per their very scientific experiments shooting books out in a field. However, it would not stop a bullet from a rifle. Ergo the need for the kevlar cover. No word on how the students are supposed to attain the Superman like speed required to get the book in front of them before the bullet hits them. Video of the textbook experiment is on the WBIR site for your amusement.
