CES 2007: S-Xgen UMPC

While the ultramobile PC (UMPC) has not taken off yet, we keep seeing more and more attempts to create a device that people want. Seamless Internet has introduced their S-Xgen UMPC at CES.

It runs Windows CE 5.0 OS, has an Intel PXA270 Xscale 520MHz processor, 256 MB RAM, 20 GB HDD, WiFi, Bluetooth, EV-DO (GSM/EDGE/CDMA), ethernet, USB, video camera, 4 inch screen and a foldable keyboard. That all sounds like a pretty decent package, and at 14 ounces it is very portable. The problem is the price. For $1395, you could get a very nice laptop. And is the additional portability worth that much to most people? A few, maybe, but not the masses.
