CES Preview: Slimmer DLP Sets from Samsung

Samsung DLP

Maybe it is just me, but I have always liked the pictures of the DLP and plasma sets much more than any of the LCD sets that are out. So I am glad to see that Samsung is going to be showing a new, thinner line of DLP TV’s that can rival the flat panels. They are showing units in the 50-60″ range that are about 10″ deep. Early word is that will retail for about 30% less than current flat panels.

I have to assume that these sets will be 1080p and use their LCD light engine rather than a bulb. Longer life, quicker startups, better colors and no spinning wheel causing a rainbow effect or noise. It all sounds good to me, and I will be sure to fill in all the details next week. The picture above is of an older DLP, I am interested in the styling of their new set as well.
