This Tron-Styled Bicycle Is Off The Grid

Y’know what I love about geeks? They see something awesome in a film or a TV show and they think, “let’s make it real”.

Such is the case with this novel new bicycle design from Cyclotron Bikes in Europe. Described as a “smart cycle,” this new bike doesn’t just look like it fell out of Tron but acts like it too. It features brand-new hubless wheels and its tires don’t require any air. It has a built-in mount for your smartphone and a self-recharging lithium-ion battery which also powers the lights, with all cables neatly tucked away throughout its carbon fiber frame.

And, of course, it looks like a Tron bike. Did we mention that? Seems like a pretty big selling point, if you ask me.

The project launched on Kickstarter and has already far exceeded its target goal, but with just over a week left to go it’s your last chance to get in on the ground floor if you’d like to snag one of these beauties. Be advised, though, that this bike doesn’t come cheap – the lowest available pledge amount to get a bike is €1,199 (approximately $1,350 USD) which scores you a the manual 12-speed model.
