The Dell XPS M1710 has been given a Blu-ray upgrade which makes it one of the most powerful HD notebooks on the market.
Unfortunately there is no HDMI out and the TV Tuner is optional – but all in all, the M1710 does offer a solid set of features for the price. Speaking of price, expect to pay $3699 to start, $3974 with T7600 CPU, and $4249 with an overclockable T7600 CPU.
While I believe that the XPS M1710 is one of the best gaming laptops on the market, I can’t help but be a little put off with Blu-ray right now. Simply put, I’m not confident in the format and I believe that HD DVD will win out in the end. Therefore, adding an additional $1400 to the base price doesn’t offer much value in my opinion.
