In a nutshell, the Democracy Player is an open source internet TV platform that will help you manage your videos, get internet tv shows, search YouTube, get free HD videos, and easily download files from BitTorrent. All in all, it’s kind of like a poor man’s TiVo.
Past releases of the Democracy Player have had memory issues, but the folks behind the player have promised that this version uses 50-75% less RAM in Windows. They have also noted that switching between channels is now much faster as well.
I have only begun exploring the new version of the Democracy Player, but it seems to be working well on my Intel Mac. Definitely worth trying out.
