Google Map of Mars

I guess with all the work that they put into their Google Map software, having maps of one planet was not enough. You can now go to mars.google.com and see a similar service for Mars that they offered for Earth maps. Of course the detail is only as good as the sources they got the data from.

The About Google Mars page does say that the Google Earth client will not support the Mars map, yet. They do offer a 3D fly through Valles Marineris using the same data that their map was based on. Check out elevation, visible and infrared views.

With the speed this company is working on introducing all sorts of different ideas, let them take over for NASA and get some things done.
