Google has teamed up with Volkswagen and chip maker Nvidia to develop a GPS navigation system to be installed in future VW cars.
Apparently the new system will put current basic 3D maps to shame with a greater level of detail and realism.
“The improvements aren’t just aesthetic either – the prototype also promises ‘automatic personalised content updates’. Translated into English, this means you’ll be able to tap into an online database to get not only real-time traffic updates but also info on anything from restaurant opening times to petrol station prices.”
The technology isn’t quite ready yet, so there is no word yet on when you can expect to see this technology in your Jetta. But you can bet we will let you know when it is.
