Google Opens Gmail To Everyone, Or So It Would Seem

GmailCNET is reporting that Google has confirmed that its Gmail service is now open to anyone – no invitation required.

Since everyone and their mother is reporting this to be true, I’m inclined to believe it. Although I’m a bit puzzled why clicking on the “Sign up for Gmail” link still takes you to the cellphone activation code page and I still have 94 Gmail invites left in my inbox. Either way, getting an invite wasn’t difficult in the first place.

Hopefully a formal announcement will arrive soon.
