Who says the government never does anything for us little people? Under fire from Congressional Republicans looking to prove that Iraq did pose a serious threat before the US invasion, they posted documents seized from Iraq hoping someone would be able analyze them more carefully than some government agencies had. The problem is that there were documents posted about Iraq’s nuclear research that contained information on topics like how to build nuclear firing circuits and the radioactive cores of atom bombs.
I am sure that this public announcement from Mr. Negroponte would put off anyone looking to use this information for less than peaceful reasons, “The U.S. government has made no determination regarding the authenticity of the documents, validity or factual accuracy of the information contained therein, or the quality of any translations, when available.” Maybe you can still find some good information out there on calculations and equations needed for your home atomic research. And if you can do some accurate translation of the Arabic to point out that these documents show just how close Iraq was to developing an atomic bomb, I am sure those House Republicans would sure appreciate it.
