Actually, the iLane does a lot more than just handle email. It will also take care of all your incoming phone calls, calendar appointments, and text messages via a voice based interface.
According to the iLane website:
The “iLane™ integrates seamlessly with your car’s audio system. So as new messages arrive on your handheld device, iLane™ notifies you immediately, then reads a summary aloud. Using voice commands you can then listen to the entire message; compose a reply; forward an attachment, and more.”
The iLane works by interacting with your Bluetooth phone or email device. The audio can be delivered through the car’s audio system or a Bluetooth headset.
The iLane is currently being shopped around to distributors and is not yet available for sale. There has been no word on the price thus far.
