If you are a hardcore PC enthusiast, you know that finding a pratical and inexpensive way to cool down the CPU is a major concern.
Intel has developed a liquid cooling unit that might be all of this and more.
“At the project’s outset, Intel engineers had three goals in mind: (1) design a liquid cooling solution flexible enough to accommodate the needs of Extreme Edition systems, (2) make the thermal performance reliable, and (3) pull it all off within a low cost framework. What they came up with was a completely self-contained, integrated, and modular pump and cold-plate connected to a 120mm heat exchanger and 120mm fan. The pump and cold-plate apparatus by itself is roughly the shape of a medium-size bagel sliced in half.”
And the best part? The unit is designed to require no maintenance or refilling.
Currently, the device is still in development – and no price point has been established. However, Intel’s Advanced Liquid Cooling Technology certainly has a ton of potential.
