Slingbox PRO

We love the Slingbox here at Nerd Approved (although the look leaves something to be desired), so it is only natural that we were excited to hear that three new models have now been formally introduced.

For those of you who are unfamiliar, the Slingbox allows you to stream your television signal, satellite receiver, and DVR to a computer or mobile device. In other words, you can have complete control over your television anywhere in the world. And the best part is that the Slingbox only costs $179.99 - $249-99 depending on the model (and there are no subsciption fees.)

Models:

PRO: Control up to 4 video or audio sources (HD connect available for an extra $50), supports 16:9 widescreen aspect ratios, retails for $249.99

Slinbox AV (Left) Tuner (Right)

AV:  Control your digital cable set-top box, satellite receiver, or DVR, supports 16:9 widescreen aspect ratios, retails for $179.99

Tuner: Intended for analog cable users, supports 16:9 widescreen aspect ratios, retails for $179.99

The original Slingbox was well received, so we have high hopes for these new versions. Unfortunately, Mac support for the Slingbox is still in the development phase so the Apple faithful will have to wait awhile longer to take their T.V. on the road.

[...] For an additional $19.95 monthly fee, Best Buy can also enable users to remotely control the home, check what the kids are watching, and view recorded TV shows (although, there is no sound available with the TV service right now - which is apparently in the process of being corrected but is currently ridiculous. In the meantime, the Slingbox is your best bet for this functionality). [...]
