Invisibility Cloaks - Oh Yeah!

Researchers in England and the United States are confident that they know how to make an invisibility cloak like the fictional ones used in the Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings movies. In fact, work is currently underway on a blueprint for the cloak and they are calling in help to build the exotic materials needed for the project.
In order to render the wearer invisible, the materials used would need to “steer light and other forms of electromagnetic radiation around the object, rendering it as invisible as something tucked into a hole in space.”
According to the researchers, metamaterials with a structure designed down to a sub atomic scale, would neither reflect light nor cast a shadow.
John Pendry, a physicist involved with the project at the Imperial College London noted that “such a cloak does not exist, but early versions that could mask microwaves and other forms of electromagnetic radiation could be as close as 18 months away. We will have a cloak after not too long.”
Awesome.
