New Kodak Logo

Like Intel before it, Kodak has chosen to make a break from the past and rebrand itself as youthful and cutting edge.

“We want to break out of the box, in a lot of ways,” says Betty Noonan, director of brand management and marketing services at Kodak.” Obviously, the literal aspect of this comment referrs to the breakdown of the yellow box that has imprisoned the Kodak name for the last 70 years.

I can’t help but think that when Kodak went to the ad agency and said that they were looking for a new logo this is the first thing that popped into everyone’s heads. Naturally, they probably spent months and months “researching” and “brainstorming” at a cost of hundreds of thousands of dollars - but in the end they went with what is basically an  uninispring design.

On the other hand, anything would be better than the old version.
