Apparently the scene here “depicts a lone man sitting on a rock afloat on a vast sea.”
How that imagery relates to the clock itself is not clear, although the whole thing does seem a little depressing. I imagine the man spending hour after boring hour bobbing up and down in the sea – alone for an eternity.
