Microsoft's Soapbox

Today Microsoft will begin beta testing its own video sharing service in an attempt to take a piece of the action from market leader YouTube.

The service, entitled “Soapbox” will allow users to easily upload videos (naturally), but it will also allow them to categorize, share and comment on them, all while the video continues to play uninterrupted.

In a break from Microsoft tradition, Soapbox will be available on various browsers, including Mozilla Firefox and Apple’s Safari.

Check out the Soapbox homepage to join the beta test. The beta is full at the moment, but Microsoft is planning on expanding the number of subscribers in the coming weeks and months. Leaving your e-mail address will assure you a place as soon as one becomes available.
