Volkswagen is working with Google to combine Google maps with traditional GPS Navigation systems to provide users with real pictures on their display. It would seem the next logical progression. Getting directions from your navigation system is handy, but it would be a lot more useful if you had actual pictures of what the area looked like. And luckily, that is exactly what this system strives to do.
VW says they have no definite plans to introduce something like this, but it is only a matter of time until someone does. It appears that the biggest challenge at this point is getting a display driver that can handle the 3D pictures that are required, and they are working with Nvidia to get that worked out. It should only be a matter of time.
