PC to Stereo Solution- Linksys/Yahoo

Yahoo and Linksys are teaming up to provide a solution to playing digital music from their Yahoo account on their home stereos. What is required? You need to have a Yahoo music account, a piece of software running on your PC and Linksys’ Wireless-G Music Bridge. Not a particularly cheap solution, nor is it the first, but I can definitely see the benefit of having this as a possibility. I want to listen to my stereo system which is in my living room, and it certainly has better fidelity than my home PC.
This does bring two thoughts to mind. One is that this seems like something that a Media PC could use. Following the usual paradigm of the Media Center PC as a repository for digital media, this makes sense. The second is that this is but a single piece of a total Media Center solution. And not to sound like a broken record, but this should be one piece of a software package that allows users complete control of their digital media within their home. Audio, video and pictures all need to be controlled by it, and able to stream it to where it is needed in the home. I don’t mind purchasing a few devices to make this all work with my different pieces of external hardware to play it on, but I don’t really want to have install and maintin a different piece of software from a different vendor for every tpye of media I want to control.
At this point he most logical company to do this would be Microsoft. They own the OS, let them build in all the features that are required. From that point, another vendor could look to build their own solution, but the base functions being in the OS would really lead to the best integration.
