Asus OSX UMPC

If you have been patiently waiting for Apple to release a Mac tablet computer or Mac UMPC, your wait may be over. Unfortunately it isn’t Apple that is behind this Mac OSX UMPC, it is some dude named Igor.

It seems that Igor has managed to get a full version of Mac OSX 10.4.7 running on an Asus R2H UMPC. Details on the installation process aren’t what I would call thorough, but he does provide the basics:

Installed Mac OS X 10.4.7 JaS Pached and in custom installation (beside standard MAC OS stuff) also selected SSE2 patch. Installation had no problems (after I created the second install DVD).. it takes some time but it is very simple. Only issue is that it is not optimized for resolution of 800×480 so you can not see back and next buttons so you must use TAB button and try if the right button is selected. OK I almost forgot. It was nor dual boot installation. Mac OS X is my only OS now on Asus R2H.”

The second video on the onlyumpc website shows the UMPC in action, and it does a good job of illustrating how the touchscreen works with the OSX interface (although the OS seems to run as slow as sh*t on this thing.) Still, If I were to purchase a UMPC, this would be the first thing I did with it.
