Tempera Technology has developed a beer can that can magically lower beer temp up to 30 degrees in three minutes without the use of any sort of compressed gas.
The Tempera Technology webpage on the product reads: “Proprietary engineering creates a temperature drop proven to reduce the I.C. Can’s™ contents by a minimum of 30° Fahrenheit (16.7° C) in just three minutes. When activated, the all natural desiccant contained within a vacuum draws the heat from the beverage through the evaporator into an insulated heat-sink container. It is this patented vacuum-power which lowers the temperature so dramatically and quickly, leaving the beverage inside cool and refreshing.”
An article dated April 29th 2004 on RealBeer.com suggests that the I.C. Can will cost around 10 to 20 percent more than a regular beer - but they also said that the cans would be expected on Britan’s shelves during the summer of 2004. As far as we know Tempera is still looking to sell the I.C. can to top beverage companies.
