Sex Sells for Euro Napster

Napster vs iTunes…rent vs buy, the debate is heating up – literally.

Napster makes a compelling argument. For $15 a month you can rent an unlimited number of songs, play them on over 75 different mp3 players, and stream full length music. On the other hand, iTunes wants you to buy your music for $.99 a pop and play it on an iPod.

The bottom line is that the choice boils down to whether you want to own music or rent it. So, in my opinion there is no clear winner – its all based on preference.

However, in the advertising department, I believe that Napster’s most recent effort has Apple beat. The following commercial is for a European audience and it focuses on the fact that iTunes only allows users to preview songs for 30 seconds – although the actual message may be lost on the guys out there. Check it out and you’ll see what I mean. This one is most certainly Nerd Approved.
