Sony VPL-VW100

There have been a lot of preliminary reviews of this product, but first I have seen of the shipping model come from Cnet. Originally slated to be released in November of last year, this projector has all the power and detail you could want. THe price, though steep, is fairly reasonable based on the features and resolution this thing will give you. MSRP of $9999 puts it above what your average consumer is looking for, but it offers a picture that the discerning viewer may be willing to pay double that for, particularly for it’s 1080p resolution.

The one knock against this projector is that it’s brightness is not tremendous, though still plenty to give it a beautiful picture at it’s recommended maximum of 100″. If that is not big enough for you, then you are looking in the wrong price range. Offering all the inputs you would require from a high definition projector, it also has a myriad of options in fine tuning the picture. It will do all the upconverting required for various inputs, and when you give it a native high definition source, you see detail that you can only imagine.

Receiving a 9.1 out of 10 from Cnet, that should about say it all. A rating that high means that not only does the unit offer what it claims, but does it very well. All the specs on this unit are listed at Sony here. When I tire of my DLP display, something like this will be just what I am looking for.
