Venice Project

The Venice Project is a peer to peer video streaming service that is being developed by the makers of Skype. So right off the bat you know a few things: they know peer to peer, they have plenty of cash from their Skype sale and they mean business.

Just like Skype, the software setup is simple and quick and initial reports are that the speed and video quality are excellent. Since those are probably two of the three most important factors for gaining traction in the marketplace, they are on the right track. The third key is content and with their successful track record I would expect media companies to be lining up to get involved early before they have missed out on yet another opportunity.

The product is still in beta, but I will be one of many ready to see what they are offering when this goes live.
