Verizon Ups It’s DSL Charges

I think the people at Verizon think we are all just plain dumb. The FCC reclassified DSL service as an information service, thus relieving Verizon of the need to charge the Universal Service Fund charge to its customers. All you Verizon customers were looking to see your bills reduced by $1.25 per month for the lower speed service, and $2.83 for the higher speed services.

Now, and you may find the this hard to believe, Verizon says that they have experienced increased costs, and they need to charge $1.20 per month on the low speed service, and $2.70 for the higher speed services. I am sure the charge that was removed and the new charge added being almost exactly the same is just pure conicidence. As is the timing. A more cynical person would say that Verizon assumes that leaving a charge on there and pocketing it will be ignored by their customers since their bill does not increase. Decide for yourself.
