Wal-Mart To Get A Piece Of iTunes Movies?

It appears that Apple is currently negotiating with Wal-Mart about an alliance regarding iTunes Movies. If a deal is reached, it could mean a slice of iTunes profits for Wal-Mart and Apple could gain access to movies from every major studio.
Apple’s foray into the movie download business has brought tensions between the two companies to an all time high over the last few months. Wal-Mart was worried about being undercut and it responded by throwing it’s weight around Hollywood. Studios, worried about pissing off the world’s biggest retailer, responded by giving Apple the cold shoulder.
At this point, no one is really sure how such an alliance would work. Some have speculated that it could take the form of “digital download coupons” that would allow users to pick up movies, TV shows, or music on iTunes with a portion of the proceeds going to Wal-Mart.
I have to admit, it’s kind of interesting to watch these two giants go at one another. There is a lot of money riding on the digital movie business, so it is only natural that there is some serious wheeling and dealing going on. We’ll have to wait and see who comes out on top.
