The Original Captain Kirk Has The Best Lines [Featured]

Kirk

Captain Kirk is awesome for many reasons, but two at the top of the list are: he’s Captain Kirk and he’s played by William Shatner. The character is the leader and cocky and therefore already interesting, but it’s really Shatner’s portrayal that pushes him over the edge – including the infamous way he delivers lines. Kirk had tons of gems between Star Trek: The Original Series and the films. Check out ten of my favorites after the break.

“Of all things, a ‘god’ needs compassion.”

=======

“There’s only one kind of woman…or man, for that matter. You either believe in yourself or you don’t.”

=======

“The more complex the mind, the greater the need for the simplicity of play.”

=======

“Risk! Risk is our business. That’s what this starship is all about. That’s why we’re aboard her. You may dissent without prejudice. Do I hear a negative vote?”

=======

“A Vulcan can no sooner be disloyal than he can exist without breathing.”

=======

“I’m a soldier, not a diplomat. I can only tell the truth.”

=======

“Sometimes a feeling is all we humans have to go on.”

=======

“Genius doesn’t work on an assembly line basis. You can’t simply say, ‘Today I will be brilliant.”

=======

“There are certain things men must do to remain men.”

=======

“Captain’s Log, stardate 9529.1. This is the final cruise of the Starship Enterprise under my command. This ship and her history will shortly become the care of another crew. To them and their posterity will we commit our future. They will continue the voyages we have begun, and journey to all the undiscovered countries, boldly going where no man… where no *one* has gone before.”
