Disney Has Approached Drew Struzan About Doing More Star Wars Art

Even if you don’t know the name Drew Struzan, you know his work. The unbelievably talented artist has created iconic posters for many films you know and love: Indiana Jones, Harry Potter And The Sorceror’s Stone, Back to the Future, Blade Runner, and Star Wars. He has a knack for capturing the feeling of the movie and the soul of each character in the posters, and you can’t help but stare at them – even if you only give other posters a single glance. (Side note: if you haven’t flipped through The Art of Drew Struzan, I highly recommend doing so).

Since he’s done posters for all the Star Wars films, it seems natural that he would return for the sequel trilogy. But there’s a catch: he’s retired. In a recent interview with Fanhattan though, he stated he has been approached by Disney:

Oh, well, never say never, [laughs] because…in fact, I got a couple calls already this week on Star Wars from Disney. Oh my god, I’m trying to be retired! You know, I spent 35 years painting Star Wars. [laughs] I painted Star Wars before most of you were born! But I guess there is always a chance. There’s no intention…

But, you know, never say never. All things are possible.

Indeed. I have everything crossed in hopes that he will jump back in to do posters for Episodes VII-IX because it wouldn’t seem right without him involved.

Speaking of not staying retired, check out Struzan’s work on a new Being Human poster after the break.
