Hutchinson is a rural farming town in Kansas that’s about the right size and about the right distance from the nearest big city as fictional Smallville. It also has frequent meteor showers and roads named Clark and Kent. Resident Christopher Wietrick figures those are good enough reasons to officially change the town’s name to the one where Superman spent his childhood.
Wietrick admits to being a lifelong Superman fan (surprise) and has even written his own comic comparing Hutchinson to Smallville with proceeds going to the local Boys and Girls Club. He’s also started a Facebook page where people can help support his cause, spread the word and make this happen.
