Marvel Comics Ultimate Fallout #4 issue arrives today, and with it comes our first glimpse of the teenager who will replace Peter Parker. As you have probably heard, Parker was killed off in Ultimate Spider-Man #160.

Many were shocked to discover that the new Spider-Man (in the Ultimate Universe) is a half-black, half-Hispanic teen named Miles Morales.

Marvel’s Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso explains:

“What you have is a Spider-Man for the 21st century who’s reflective of our culture and diversity. We think that readers will fall in love with Miles Morales the same way they fell in love with Peter Parker.”

Word is that Morale’s powers will be slightly different from Parker’s, though the details have not been revealed thus far. We’ve already seen that he will be sporting a cool new outfit as well.

Obviously, this has the potential to be a polarizing issue for comic book fans. All I know is that Donald Glover really has an in now to play Spider-Man at some point, and we would love to see that. Interestingly enough, USA Today notes that Glover’s appearance in a Spider-Man costume on the season premiere of Community actually influenced writer Brian Michael Bendis on creating the new series.

Speaking of that, the new Morale’s Spider-Man really takes off in Ultimate Spider-Man #1 which is due out in September.

What you have is the end of my interest in Marvel Comics, because regardless of the identity of the new Spiderman, killing off Peter Parker (or any other superhero, for that matter) is morally wrong.

Keep in mind that Peter Parker is still alive and well in the regular series. This storyline is playing out in the Ultimate Spider-Man only.
