Trek Movie caught up with Michael Dorn at Phoenix Comicon last weekend, and among other topics, they asked him about something he brought up at a panel: pitching a lower budget Star Trek film focused on Worf. In theory, it works for me. Star Trek: The Next Generation is the only Trek I really know, and I like the character. And honestly, it doesn’t have to hit a high mark to be better than the other TNG films.
Dorn sees Worf as the captain of a Federation ship, out there on the front lines chasing terrorists. It would something edgier and darker and would have mostly new characters. He’s thinking the film would be straight to DVD or cable. He eventually wants to approach CBS with it.
“I have couple meetings I want to do before that. First with Rick Berman, who produced all of our shows, just to see what he thinks. Then my manager. And I know people at SyFy. And I’ll just start gathering information. If anything happens it is going to be next year because I have a bunch of stuff to do this year.”
When Trek Movie asked if he had a writer lined up, Dorn stated he thinks he would write it. Then later he said, “I have already started writing the script and excuse my language, but it’s f—ing great.” So apparently it’s been started. We’ll see what happens from here.
Is this a movie you would want to watch?
