Newly Discovered Dinosaur Is Named After Sauron

Technically, this newly discovered dino is named Sauroniops pachytholus but you just know everyone is going to call him Sauron. The uniquely domed 95-million-year-old skull cap of Sauron was found earlier this year by a team of palaeontologists who determined he was a bipedal carcharodontosaur of the Cretaceous period. They say this huge dinosaur was over 30 feet long, but they’ve got very little to go on and are hoping to find more fossils so they can put together a better picture.

If you want to dive into the research, studies on the creature can be found here and here.
