Science Has Built a Working Phaser!

It’s not as cool as flying cars or jetpacks, but it’s damn close. The people at NTT Basic Research Laboratories in Japan have built a real, working phaser which is pretty much a laser that works with sound instead of light (as they utilize particles called “phonons”, calling them “phasers” is completely irresistible). Their phaser uses sound waves to create force and is likely to see its first practical use in medicine and science.

Apparently, no one is thinking ahead and getting ready for the alien invasion fleet that’s certain to appear any day. Come on guys, someone turn this into a weapon worthy of James T. Kirk!
