The Science Channel Is Reviving ‘MythBusters’ With A Reality Show Search For New Hosts

Well, that was quick.

MythBusters, the Discovery Channel series which recently closed out its 14th and final season, isn’t quite as dead as had previously been reported (hell, the body’s not even cold yet). According to The Hollywood Reporter The Science Channel is interested in reviving the show, beginning with a reality series as the network looks for a new, younger generation of hosts to take the reigns from previous long-time hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman.

The reality series will be given the rather brilliant and original title of Search for the Next MythBusters. Mark Etkind, the newly-minted General manager of the network, notes:

“When I got to the network, and we clearly identified MythBusters as a franchise and something that was important to Science Channel and Discovery, and it was such a beloved show, I didn’t want to let it go. So we looked really closely at what would be the best way to keep it going and invigorate it and thought, ‘Let’s host a worldwide search for the next MythBusters.'”

They won’t just be looking within the US, either. This is a global search – anyone and everyone is invited to submit videos – more info can be found via the Science Channel website, though they are specifically looking out for “people who have building skills and are naturally inquisitive.”

So, are you clamoring for more MythBustin’? Think you’ve got what it takes to fill Jamie and Adam’s shoes? Perhaps you think Jamie and Adam’s shoes are too big to fill or that the show has run it’s course in general. Feel free to let us know what you think in the comments.
