So Jealous: “Ninja Day” Is An Actual Holiday In Japan

Ninja

It seems like every day on the calendar is an unofficial holiday for bacon or gaming or lip balm or whatever. But Japan has a holiday that genuinely makes us jealous. February 22nd is National Ninja Day, which is the perfect day if you happen to speak Japanese. They picked 2/22 because 2 is “ni” in Japanese which plays off the word “ninja”.

The holiday is still relatively obscure with Iga and Koka being the two main cities that have truly embraced the idea. This has a lot to do with the fact that both are in areas that were historically ninja strongholds. The celebration includes banners, origami throwing stars and even dressing up like a ninja at work.

So jealous.
