Stan Lee sat down with Vanity Fair and gave an extremely amusing and insightful interview that touched upon some of the greatest questions of our time—namely what’s up with the Hulk’s magic pants and is the Thing’s thing made up of rock like the rest of him?

On the question about the Hulk’s magically indestructible purple pants:

I just figured that Bruce Banner had probably been a friend of Reed Richards [Mr. Fantastic from the Fantastic Four], and Reed had given him some elastic trousers. There’s an explanation for everything, but you may not be technically advanced enough to follow me on all of this.

On the question of the Thing’s dork:

I never gave it a thought. I guess common sense would say it was made of orange rock too, but I always thought it was more interesting to think about Reed Richards. As you know, he had the ability to stretch, and sexually, that would seem to be a great asset in many areas.

Haha…indeed. Hearing 88-year old men talk about superhero sex is endlessly entertaining. Speaking of awkward moments with the elderly, during the interview Stan was asked whether they will end up finding him dead at his office one day, still toiling away on Marvel comics.

He replied “I don’t intend to die.”

That’s good to hear. We wouldn’t know what to do without you Stan. Check out Vanity Fair for the rest of the interview.
