A new animated series titled Star Wars Rebels was announced about two months ago. We didn’t have too many details – just that it would take place in between Episodes III and IV. It’s exciting since that time period has never been explored on screen. Executive Producer Dave Filoni went to Celebration Europe armed with a little more information, the official logo, and concept art. Filoni said the show will have a completely different look than Star Wars: The Clone Wars—namely the animation style will be different, and the look of the show draws heavy inspiration from the esteemed Ralph McQuarrie’s work.

He showed concept art for a new and iconic ship in the series called “The Ghost.” It’s a mix of the Millennium Falcon and a B-17. It will play an important part in the new series. No word about the exact characters yet, but IGN reported that someone asked Filoni whether anyone from The Clone Wars would show up in Rebels. He had this to say:

“I love Star Wars characters. All the characters, but there’s always a special place in my heart for the ones that I played a part in creating, so I don’t know what kind of answer that is, but it’s the best one I can give you.”

Interesting.

Check out some beautiful art from the series after the break.
