Harry Potter book covers have been in the news lately. Scholastic redesigned the North American covers, and they just released the last of them by Kazu Kibuishi on Harry Potter and J.K. Rowling’s birthdays last month. We also saw some never published drawings and covers by Mary GrandPré. As much as I enjoy her and Kibuishi’s work, I’m drawn to these Swedish covers by artist Alvaro Tapia.
The art is a little rougher with visible brush strokes, and the covers showcase scenes and characters from the books. Some of them feature several background elements and, overall, they are just a lot of fun.
More covers after the break.
