Syfy Orders a Pilot For 12 Monkeys

12 monkeys

Television series become movies, and movies become television series. It’s all one big circle of life or entertainment or something. Syfy is traveling that loop by ordering a pilot for 12 Monkeys. The dramatic series will be based on the 1995 Terry Gilliam film of the same name. It will go along with a basic plot similar to the one in the film, but it’s not clear if it will follow a different main character or if it will be a straight re-telling. The synopsis is as follows (reported by Deadline):

It follows the journey of a time traveler from the post-apocalyptic future who appears in present day on a mission to locate and eradicate the source of a deadly plague that will eventually decimate the human race.

The pilot order is dependent on producers Terry Matalas, Travis Fickett, Charles Roven, and Richard Suckle attracting a cast. Filming is supposed to happen in November, but they don’t have any committed actors just yet.

Though I’d rather Syfy focused on entirely original content instead of a reboot or diving into an existing universe, I’ll take a story like this over Sharkquake VI: The Reckoning or whatever ridiculous movie they come up with next. Are you excited about this pilot? Let us know in the comments!
