You Can Help Bring Reading Rainbow Back for Every Child, Everywhere

For many of us, LeVar Burton is not only Geordi LaForge, but he’s the man behind Reading Rainbow. He holds a very special place in our hearts because of his commitment to both the show and the overall commitment to encourage kids to read and love books.

When the show went off the air in 2009, Burton was able to bring it back as an app for tablets, but he realized that many kids didn’t have access to one. So he’s gone a step further and created this Kickstarter project to help put Reading Rainbow on the internet.

Additionally, his goal is to create a version for schools so that teachers can share it with their classrooms. All of this is geared toward the overall mission to bring Reading Rainbow back for every child, everywhere.

So, take a few minutes to check out the project and the rewards. There’s everything from a $5 reward to a $10,000 that gets you a school assembly.

It’s also really neat to sit on the page and watch the number go up. Something about seeing how so many people feel passionately about this project really gets me in the feels.

Check out the video after the break.

This infographic breaks it down pretty well:
