You Can Probably Forget About Getting New Sherlock Until Late 2013 or 2014

Are you dying to see season three of BBC’s fantastic Sherlock? Well, I have bad news. It looks like you’re not going to get new episodes until the end of 2013 or maybe even 2014.

I’ve resigned myself to the three episodes per season format. As torturous as it is to have such short seasons, it means we get quality episodes instead of mediocrity stretched over 22 installments. I prefer the former of those options. But – I don’t want to wait over a year for them.

Apparently the delay is necessary due to the busy schedules of Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. Production that was supposed to start in January has been moved to March. Though BBC has not officially announced the premiere date for season three, a PBS spokesperson gave EW the 2013/2014 time frame. At least we will get to see the actors in films before then, but it’s not the same. I can only watch the Sherlock scarf gif after the break so many times.
