Attack Of The Cyber Octopuses

German filmmaker Nicola Piovesan is currently working on a film project entitled Attack of the Cyber Octopuses. Based on the title and the picture above, I’m already sold.

The effort is described as “a retro-futuristic cyberpunk short film” that aims to “recreate the look and feel of the Eighties Sci-fi classics, without using CGI nor chroma key” – meaning it will be filmed in actual locations using miniature models and handmade props.

One of those models is this awesome Cyber Octopus that was created using 3D Studio Max and a Wanhao Duplicator. For added touches, the eyes were made from LEDs while the tentacles are articulated with an elastic wire.

You can learn more about how this model was made on the AOTCO Tumblr page. See Part 1 and Part 2.

There doesn’t seem to be any word on when the film will be released, but you can keep up with the production here.
