Yesterday, Vanity Fair revealed the covers for their Star Wars 40th anniversary issue, and today they’re following it up with additional photos from the legendary Annie Leibovitz, a behind-the-scenes video of the shoot and interviews with the cast and crew. Check out some of the highlights below.
Needless to say, seeing Carrie Fisher will stir up some emotions—especially photos like this one:
Head on over to Vanity Fair to check out more gorgeous photos and behind-the-scenes stories. It’s a very interesting read, and some of it is mildly spoilery—like this scene Oscar Isaac described:
“We did this scene where Carrie has to slap me,” he said. “I think we did 27 takes in all, and Carrie leaned into it every time, man. She loved hitting me. Rian found such a wonderful way of working with her, and I think she really relished it.”
Yeah, it seems that Leia and Poe have a bit of a tiff. But that is classic Carrie Fisher stuff right there. Not surprisingly, the Vanity Fair article devotes quite a bit of time to Fisher, which includes this quote from Kathleen Kennedy:
“She was having a blast,” said Kennedy. “The minute she finished, she grabbed me and said, ‘I’d better be at the forefront of IX!’ Because Harrison was front and center on VII, and Mark is front and center on VIII. She thought IX would be her movie. And it would have been.”
Sigh. We wish we could have seen it.
