How do you feel about getting a whole mess of Star Wars prequels focused on the origin stories of characters like Han Solo and Yoda? Like it or not, that’s what you’re going to get.
According to Variety, Disney CFO Jay Rasulo had this to say during an investor conference call:
Rasulo also noted that one “Star Wars” trilogy film or “origin story film” would also appear on the release schedule each year, starting with the seventh installment in the “Star Wars” saga that J.J. Abrams will direct and Disney releases in 2015.
So far, we like where Disney is headed with Episode VII, but prequels rarely work. It might be better to start shifting the focus to other characters and stories in the vast Star Wars universe instead of running these old characters into the ground even more.
