A few months back, J.J. Abrams ran a contest for a role in Star Wars Episode VII and it managed to raise $5 million for the charity Unicef. He decided to thank the masses by tweeting this note, which is being held by an unidentified droid hand. Now the speculation begins about which droid is holding the note.
Some think it could be Luke, but then there’s the whole issue of the skin missing. Comparing it to Anakin’s hand at the end of Attack of the Clones makes that theory very plausible. See why after the break…
And as for the winner of the role? It went to one D.C. Barnes of Denver, Colorado:
The grand-prize winner was D.C. Barns of Denver Colorado, who shared during a donor video chat that the first time he saw Star Wars when it opened in theaters in 1977, when he was only five. “I loved it! … I just couldn’t get it out of my head of 35 years.” D.C. was then asked to share his favorite Star Wars moment. As he began to reply, he was suddenly surprised in his Denver office by members of Star Wars: Force for Change team. Once settled, D.C. exclaimed, “This! This is my new favorite Star Wars moment!”
