Try Not To Cry Watching This Extraordinary ‘Star Wars’ Fan Film

I wont lie – I cry at the drop of a hat. I cried watching The Force Awakens. I cried watching the Doctor Who season nine finale. I cried during a recent rewatch of Pokémon: The First Movie. And I cried watching this beautiful, masterfully-shot Star Wars fan film called “Kara” written and directed by Joe Sill.

Set on a desert planet, presumably during the 23-or-so years of the Empire’s rein, a young girl and her father witness a dogfight between some Rebel X-Wings and Imperial Tie-Fighters. When an X-Wing crashes, the pair meet a Rebel pilot… and are quickly tracked by a team of Stormtroopers.

There’s a wonderful tempo to this fan film. Between the pacing, the shots, the brief but surprisingly detailed characterization and the top-notch visual effects, this is a seven-minute short that’s well worth your time. Check it out in the player below.
