The Hollywood Reporter recently discussed the tricky matter of negotiating with Robert Downey, Jr. about returning to play Iron Man in Iron Man 4 and Avengers sequels. That’s interesting of course, but what Marvel has ahead for Phase 3 and beyond is even more fascinating. THR states:
Marvel has a writing program it uses as a concept generator and has scripts for Blade and Ms. Marvel features, for example. Doctor Strange, Iron Fist, Black Panther and The Runaways are other projects on the horizon. The company slowly has been reacquiring licenses to characters it lost during the 1990s, snapping up Blade, Ghost Rider, Power Man and Daredevil in the past year alone.
They don’t state how they know this, but it’s not out of the realm of possibility. I love the idea of a Ms. Marvel centered film. They need a movie focused on a female hero, and Carol Danvers has plenty to offer whether they tackle her as Ms. Marvel or Captain Marvel. And I’d take a Blade reboot too. I’m looking forward to seeing Marvel focus on a broader range of characters as time moves forward.
