Sometimes, a mistake seems really obvious in retrospect. Paramount is probably thinking that thanks to a poster released for Australia. Although the new live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comes out in August for the U.S., fans down under have to wait until September 11. Now, here’s where it gets bad. Rather than just re-use one of the US posters, Paramount’s Australia branch put together an image of the turtles falling from a building that was exploding. This, along with the highlighted “September 11” copy at the bottom caused quite a few people to link it with some pretty bad memories.
The poster was quickly removed after debuting via Twitter on @ParamountAU. Of course, this is most likely just an unfortunate error in judgement, not anything intentional. However, the last thing the TMNT movie needed was another bit of bad PR.
