What Do Harry Potter and Osama Bin Laden Have In Common?

Not a damn thing really, but in the wake of Osama bin Laden’s death, news outlets are desperately trying to cover the story from every possible angle, no matter how pointless or absurd. Take, for example, a recent Reuters article that claims there are “eerie links” between Harry Potter and bin Laden.

It set up the ongoing conflict between Harry, the young, orphaned wizard, who gradually discovers his powers, and the malignant force of evil, Lord Voldemort, who is bent on destroying him. First referred to only as “He Who Must Not Be Named,” Voldemort is introduced as something of a formless boogie-man — not unlike the mysterious Osama — but then, over the course of the series, takes on more and more of a physical presence until in the last volume he and Harry go head-to-head in a final, cataclysmic battle.

Yes, because this is the first story ever with a villain. Then, of course, there is the fact that the first movie came out months after 9/11 and the last movie will come out shortly after his death. Scary!

Seriously, this is one of the most ridiculous articles ever written and definitely worth a read. In related news, check out the following video at the 1:10 mark. There are some spooky similarities between the video and the recent raid on bin Laden’s compound. I’m pretty sure that is exactly how it went down.
